Cherry Hill is hosting a mission partner this fall as part of the Synod of the Covenant’s Mission to the USA Program.

Leonard “Leo” Chrysostomos will arrive at Cherry Hill on Friday, October 11 and will be with us for three weeks. Leo lives in Indonesia with his wife Mimi and their two daughters, Kezia and Katya. He is lecturer and researcher at the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies and is on the faculty at Duta Wacana Christian University. He is an elder in the Christian Church of Indonesia which is the fruit of Dutch Reformed missionary work.

While Leo is with us in Dearborn, he will preach on a Sunday morning and Wednesday evening as well as at a congregational lunch or dinner yet to be planned. He will visit local colleges, industries, seminaries, and as well spend time with our members in small gathering over lunch or dinner.

We want to be good hosts to Leo during his time with us. There are many ways that you can help! To begin with, we will need families or couples who might be willing to host Leo in their home for a week. All that hosts will need to provide is a place for Leo to sleep and relax and possibly breakfast in the morning .You will not be responsible for transportation or other meals. Please speak to Rev. Mark Phillips as soon as possible if you are willing to host Leo for a week or so.

Other ways you can help:

  • Invite Leo for lunch or dinner or a family event (birthday, Sunday dinner, etc.)
  • Take Leo to a local sporting event or concert or movie
  • Offer to take Leo to Greenfield Village or the Henry Ford or the DIA or any of our local attractions.
  • Invite Leo to speak at your local service organization – Rotary, Kiwanis, etc.
  • Invite Leo to your church group or organization
  • And the list goes on!

There will be a sign up sheet on the table in Weir Foyer to host Leo for dinner. If you would like to include him in other events, please schedule that through Lisa Levangie in the church office.  Please help us share our church, community and culture with our special guest!
