FESTIVAL OF NINE LESSONS AND CAROLS – December 17

Our Music at Cherry Hill Concert series will present the traditional Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.  The first Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at King’s College, Cambridge, was held on Christmas Eve in 1918. The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books, and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music. Our festival will follow the same order as the original 1918 festival and will include our chancel choir, under the direction of Christian A. Schoen, guest instrumentalists, and readers from the congregation.
