Godly Play for Children

Experience the Wonder!
Godly Play is a creative and imaginative approach to Christian nurture. In most education, children are told what God did. In Godly Play, children discover who God is.

The Godly Play approach helps them to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. They learn religious language and practices to express their faith. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a rotating curriculum, the Godly Play method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond. It follows a worship service order and rhythm, inviting children to experience the joy of worshipping God. Come join us!

The story of the Good Shepherd and World Communion.

The story of Abram (Abraham) and Sarai (Sarah) told using the Desert Box.

During Godly Play your child will

  • Be greeted warmly and join the circle of children.
  • Experience a foundational Bible story through actions words and teaching artifacts and figures.
  • Enter into a “wondering,” guided by the storyteller. “I wonder what part of the story you liked best?” “I wonder what part of the story is most important?”
  • Respond to the story through the work of art, play, building or using any of the many materials available in the room.
  • Join with all the children for the “feast.” During this time, the community comes together to share the Bible story read from scripture, prayers, food and each other. This is a foundation for Communion. During this time, the storyteller asks about your child’s week.
  • Say the closing blessing.
